Friends -
This month, I’ve been horrified as I’ve seen tragedy after tragedy unfold before my eyes across this country.
Violence broke out in El Paso, Dayton, Chicago, and Philadelphia all in a matter of days. It was heartbreaking.
These tragedies filled me with horror and sadness for those who were lost, but the response from these communities also filled me with hope and determination.
I saw communities come together not only to heal, but to do everything in their power to prevent future tragedies. People are saying enough is enough and demanding that our elected leaders in Congress take immediate action.
And the one thing I know is that we cannot let these politicians get away with ignoring this epidemic of violence.
That’s why today we are launching a 72-hour fundraising drive. Our goal is to get 5,000 people to chip in before our deadline to keep up the pressure on Congress to pass universal background checks.
Gun violence is a uniquely American crisis.
That won’t change unless we strengthen our gun laws.
So we can’t let up until our lawmakers wake up.
Any support you can give today puts us one step closer to passing laws that will save lives.
All my best,
Gabby Giffords
