In another episode of Democrats using lawfare to halt Republican efforts to make communities safe, the Davidson County Chancery Court ordered a halt to the National Guard deployment in Memphis.
Democrats claim that this ruling “demonstrates that no one is above the law,” yet they are completely okay with crime in the most dangerous city in the U.S. going unchecked.
Monday’s ruling was a blow to the hardworking families, small business owners, and law-abiding citizens who have been pleading to be released from the grips of chaos and violence that have been plaguing Memphis for years.
While this ruling and the Democrats' decision to celebrate it are frustrating, it does not weaken our commitment to protecting the people of Memphis.
As Governor, I will always stand with law enforcement, first responders, and every Tennessean who simply wants to live in a safe neighborhood—not one where gangs, crime, and fear dictate daily life.
I will continue fighting for every constitutional, legal, and legislative tool necessary to restore peace in Memphis and keep Tennessee a safe haven for positive growth.
