Dear Neighbors,
One of the most important things we can do is deliver a world-class education to our youth. That takes work at all levels of government.
To discuss the State of Education and to hear from our community, I’ll be joining my District 59 colleagues for a Town Hall this Thursday, November 20, from 5:30 - 8pm at North Community High School. We’ll be joined by Superintendent Dr. Lisa Sayles-Adams, Minneapolis District 2 Board Member Sharon El-Amin, and Minnesota Education Commissioner Willie Jett.
Town Hall
I hope you can join us for this Town Hall, where we’ll also be collecting non-perishable food items for local food shelf donations. If you’re unable to join us at North Community High School, you can watch the event live (or later) here [ [link removed] ].
Regardless of whether you can join us, always feel free to reach out to my office with any questions, comments, or ideas related to education or any legislative issue.

*Building a Better Minnesota*
As Co-Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee, I’ve spent a good chunk of this fall touring Minnesota, visiting communities and hearing about proposed infrastructure projects that are applying for state investment.
It’s an incredible privilege to see every corner of the state and learn about each region’s uniqueness, as well as all the things we have in common. We all want a Minnesota with clean water, safe roads, accessible public amenities, effective education systems, and public safety facilities we can rely on. That’s what Minnesotans are asking for, and that’s what we can help deliver in our Capital Investment Bill next year.
River
While I enjoyed traveling all over the state, my favorite part of the tour is bringing the committee to our own neighborhood in North Minneapolis. I love showing off what our community has to offer, and how we can be an effective partner with the state in making it even better.
This year, one of the main stops I highlighted in our district was a local project to build a pedestrian bridge across the Mississippi River. So much work has been done in recent years to connect North Minneapolis to the river, and while we’ve made progress, a bridge connecting North and Northeast Minneapolis would better connect communities and make the river and our great park system more accessible to our neighbors.
Bridge
Next session, I’ll be fighting for a robust Capital Investment Bill that invests in our community and others all over the state.
