With only 9 days left until #GivingTuesday, we're celebrating you - our Cultural Survival community - and the powerful impact you're making around the world!
Thanks to your generosity, Indigenous community radio stations and media platforms are strengthening their broadcast systems, training local journalists, and amplifying Indigenous voices through the support of our Indigenous Community Media Fund ([link removed]) .
One of the many stations your support uplifts is Radio Triyuga (Kirat, Tharu, Magar, Tamang) in Nepal. Radio Triyuga, a community radio station, focuses their programming on the rights of Indigenous Peoples, broadcasting in several Indigenous languages — Rai, Chamling, Bantawa, Tharu, Magar, Dhunt, and Tamang — ensuring that vital information and cultural knowledge is easily accessible throughout their community.
With your support, Radio Triyuga has been able to produce and air virtual Science, Math, and English lessons for students when schools were closed during the COVID-19 pandemic and is now replacing its aging and damaged transmitter, expanding its reach to even more listeners. The station will also host community consultations to learn which language programs are most needed and create storytelling sessions in partnership with fluent speakers of their Indigenous languages and cultural leaders. Additionally, new radio producers will be trained to ensure every program remains accurate, meaningful, and rooted in Indigenous values.
** "Radio Triyuga has been a lifeline for our community. Before, we struggled to access important news and government services in our language. Thanks to the programs in our mother tongue, we now understand our rights, learn about health and education, and feel connected to our culture."

This is the power of your support — empowering Indigenous community radio stations to produce communications in their own languages, in turn building stronger and more connected communities where news, information, and knowledge is shared with everyone.
