John, we wish this were surprising:

Here in Maine, a GOP dark money group got caught red-handed mailing out illegal, pre-filled voter registration cards that automatically checked "Republican" for unsuspecting voters.

Yes, this is the same party that constantly cries "voter fraud!" if an election doesn't go their way.

But this new scandal makes perfect sense, because they're the ones actually trying to mess with our elections and silence voters' voices.

The hypocrisy would be funny if it weren't an attack on democracy. We must push back for free and fair elections. Donate now to support Democrats who believe every voter should be able to make their voice heard.

This is certainly not the only time Republicans have said one thing and done another when it comes to "voter fraud."

And it represents a bigger picture of Republicans trying to win elections by tricking or silencing voters instead of persuading them.

This year, the Maine GOP tried to pass a voter suppression referendum, Question 1, that would have gutted our absentee voting system.

But we got to work, we got organized, and we got the word out about why Maine needed to reject Question 1.

It paid off with the ballot measure's resounding defeat. And if we keep working to elect leaders who uphold free and fair elections, we can deliver more victories like this.

So we have to ask: Can you make a donation of $5 or any amount to power more grassroots organizing that defends our democracy from Republican attacks?
