Did you see this?
Mike’s historic race to become the next U.S. Senator from Mississippi was highlighted again in a great article from The Root.
It tells the story of how when Mike first ran for Senate in the 2018 special election, he didn’t have the same financial resources, staff, or operation that we have now – and he still came closer to winning than anyone thought a Democrat could.
Just like Stacey Abrams did in Georgia, we’re challenging the idea that Democrats can’t be viable in “red” Southern states. The truth is, Mississippi is changing, especially when it comes to our reckoning of racial injustice.
Last month, Mike attended the Black Lives Matter protests in Jackson with his sons, while our opponent Hyde-Smith has built a reputation for her comments about public hangings, jokes about voter suppression, and dressing up in confederate outfits. She’s been practically silent on the issue of Mississippi changing its state flag or removing confederate statues representing our state in the U.S. Capitol.
Like Mike said in the article, Hyde-Smith is a “throwback to the old Mississippi.”
Mike on the other hand? “I believe and I know that I’m Mississippi of change, Mississippi of promise. Throughout my whole career, when I ran for congressional seat in 1986 to right now when I’m running for U.S. Senator in 2020, I’ve tried to be the candidate of change."
Support our candidate of change and help move Mississippi forward: Pitch in $10 or more before Thursday’s mid-month fundraising deadline.
