Dear John,

Today, Democrats forced a vote in the House of Representatives to release the Epstein Files over the objections of powerful Republicans.

This would not have been possible without the courage of the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse speaking out or the outcry of millions of Americans demanding the truth.

The system that was supposed to protect the women who were abused as children failed. These women have faced attacks from the systems that sought to protect Epstein and those around him, instead of protecting them.

But today is the first step in getting justice.

Whoever may be implicated in the release of these files should no longer hide behind their power, money, or privilege.

While today is a promising first step in gaining full transparency and justice, there are still some tricks the President and other Republicans can pull to delay or block the full release of these files.

It is imperative that we keep the stories of the brave women who have come forward in the forefront to ensure full transparency.

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence, resources are available here.

Sincerely,

Rep. Mark Takano signature
