Hi there,

I’ve said it before, but it’s never been more true: This job is about more than politics.

Yes, I’m one of the most targeted members of Congress . Outside GOP groups have already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars attacking me — earlier, and more aggressively, than almost anywhere else in the country. And as a DCCC Frontline member, I know the road ahead won’t be easy.

But through all of that noise, I stay focused on delivering results for the people I represent.

That’s why I co-led bipartisan legislation to ensure federal wildland firefighters and smokejumpers receive the hazard pay they deserve — not just when fighting active wildfires, but also during prescribed burns and training jumps that keep our communities safe.

Here’s what this bill means:

* Fair compensation for firefighters who routinely risk their lives


* Stronger wildfire prevention , using prescribed burns to protect neighborhoods and reduce catastrophic fires


* Support for smokejumpers , who parachute into dangerous, hard-to-reach terrain to stop fires before they spread
