Ft. Jeremiah Johnson, Co-founder of CNL | October 16
“‘What’s happening is tribalism, where the single most important thing is the group,’ Johnson, who is also co-founder of the center-left think tank Center for New Liberalism, says. ‘And how do you enforce loyalty to the group? … It’s all about testing, and it’s a form of what I call vice-signaling. Liberals virtue-signal. But what conservatives do is they vice-signal.’”

Ft. Tobin Stone, Deputy Director of CNL | October 21
“Economists and scholars talked about President Trump's tariffs and their impact on average Americans. The panelists explained why they believe the president's tariffs, which were enacted through executive order, were "unprecedented" from constitutional and historical perspectives. At the time of this event, the U.S. Supreme Court was scheduled to hear oral argument in November regarding the legality of the tariffs.”
C-SPAN | Democrats and Fiscal Policy [[link removed]]
Ft. Colin Mortimer, Director of CNL | October 21
“Economic and public policy analysts familiar with Democratic policy talked about how Democrats can assert fiscal responsibility in both their policies and messaging. The panelists addressed topics including how Democrats can differentiate themselves on the campaign trail when discussing fiscal issues, the growing national debt, Social Security solvency, and how Democrats could use fiscal elements of Republicans' One Big Beautiful Bill Act to their advantage when campaigning in the next election.”
C-SPAN | George Whitesides and Others on Reviving U.S. Space Exploration [[link removed]]
Ft. NLAS | October 21
“Rep. George Whitesides (D-CA) and others discussed why they thought it was important for Democrats to push for a revival of U.S. space exploration. They talked about how long-term investments, a diverse workforce, and responsible regulation could encourage progress in the commercial space industry, which they said should not be viewed as a "billionaires' boys' game" but as a shared American endeavor.”

The Dispatch | The New Liberals Mission to Reorient the Democratic Party [[link removed]]
Ft. CNL; Colin Mortimer, Director of CNL; Jeremiah Johnson, Co-founder of CNL; Kevin Roberts, Austin New Liberals | October 29
“CNL wants policies that enable markets to grow and free the government to spend money effectively on projects that actually deliver results (e.g., high-speed rail), and that’s why Johnson doesn’t like calling himself a moderate or a centrist. “Maybe those words are useful sometimes, but they always apply like, ‘Oh well, the other guy has the ideas, and I’ll just do 30 percent of what he says, because I’m more moderate,’” he said. “I am not a moderate about housing. I want to build so much damn housing. I am not a moderate about free trade. I am wildly pro-free trade.'”
The Dispatch | America Needs a Free-Trade Party [[link removed]]
By Jeremiah Johnson | November 3
“Democratic voters want their party to stand up to Trump. Over and over, polling finds that the Democratic base wants to see its party fighting, vigorously resisting Trump’s attempts to make himself a king. What better place to start than with tariffs, where the Constitution explicitly says Congress, not the president, has power? Democrats should loudly demand that Congress reassert control over trade policy, and they should do it in the context of taking power away from the President.”
Space News | Crafting a Democratic space policy in the Trump era [[link removed]]
Ft. NLAS | November 5
“If recent events have shown what Democrats oppose in space policy, what do they support? A panel at the New Liberal Action Summit in Washington Oct. 21 made the case that the party should back an ambitious space program with roles for both the government and the private sector.”

Moderated by CNL founder Jeremiah Johnson, we took stock of the crisis facing liberal democracy around the world and discussed how we should respond.”

“The Center for New Liberalism started to see an uptick in young people joining last November, Stone said. Students founded chapters at schools in red and purple areas, including at the University of Alabama and the University of Arizona this year. ‘There’s a lot of young people who are tired of the far left on campus, but want to find something outside of the typical Democratic establishment,’ Stone said.”
