Hi John,
I’m Tara Harwood, Action Network’s new Product Manager, with our latest product update!
In this release we have several features geared towards improving event workflows, as well as a new chart showing changes over time for recurring reports. Expect to see many more event improvements coming soon!
Events Improvements
(Watch this space for more exciting event upgrades!)
-
Hybrid Events: You can now create hybrid events so your attendees can join in person or online. Hybrid events have both a physical location and instructions for attendees to join virtually, such as via Zoom link.
-
Pinned Events: Pin important events in an event campaign to highlight them for your attendees. Pinned events are highlighted at the top of event campaign lists and search results.
-
Improved Event Calendar Invites: Links to virtual and hybrid events now use the location field in calendar invites.
Report Counts Over Time
Recurring highlighted reports now include charts that track changes in counts over time, so you can see how a report’s results shift. For example, if you have a daily recurring report of donors and add it to your highlights, clicking it will show a graph of donor counts over time to help you gauge the results of your fundraising campaigns.
To get started, add a recurring report to your highlights in the upper right corner of your group manage page. The chart with counts over time will pop up automatically each time you click it. You can adjust the chart’s date range — the default date range is the past three months. Click the Manage buttons to open the report’s settings.
New recurring reports will not have chart data to show at first, but the chart will populate automatically each time the recurring report runs.

Small But Mighty Upgrades:
- You can now remove tags from activists via uploads.
- Donation clips now have options to only pull in data from recurring donations, one time donations, or both.
- Major Canadian cities have been added to city targeting filters.
- You can now use emoji in many more places, such as ladder emails, page wrappers, and email wrappers.
- Non-Latin characters are also now allowed everywhere. ✨ 🐢
Important Notice
In our next release, we will be updating older page wrappers so they use our current widgets. We regularly release new versions of these widgets to add features and fix issues. Sometimes those changes can affect how a page looks, especially if you have added a lot of custom styling. Normally we do not switch older wrappers to the newest widgets automatically, so that long-standing custom designs do not suddenly change. However, very old wrappers are now causing issues, so this time we will be updating them automatically.
Most wrappers that use our standard, auto-generated layouts should be fine, but if your pages are heavily customized, you may see some formatting changes. To avoid surprises, we encourage you to open each wrapper now, click edit, and then save it so it picks up the current widgets. Then check that your action pages look the way you expect across different action types. We also recommend updating any embeds on your website by copying fresh embed codes from your actions, since older embeds are more likely to cause display problems after the next release.
