When we lead with heart and backbone, we can restore faith in the Democratic party and in democracy itself.

Team,

Today, I published an op-ed in TIME because I believe something fundamental:

The future of the Democratic Party is local.

While Donald Trump paints our cities as broken, dangerous, and hopeless, I see something entirely different.

I see a city making real progress. Homelessness in Los Angeles is declining. Violent crime is down. Small businesses are growing. And we’re rebuilding trust in the very idea that government can deliver for our communities.

This didn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of putting compassion to work, meeting people where they are, and refusing to give up on solutions just because they’re hard.

That’s the kind of leadership I’ve brought to City Hall — and it’s the kind of leadership we need more of in our party and across the country.

But if we want to keep pushing forward, we need the resources to do it. Can you chip in today to support our campaign and help us show the country what Democratic leadership looks like on the ground?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

When we show voters what real results look like, when we lead with both heart and a backbone, we can restore faith in our party and in democracy itself. That’s the work I’m doing here in Los Angeles.

And with your support, we can keep going.

P.S. You can read my full op-ed in TIME here. I hope you’ll take a look — it’s a message I believe our entire party needs to hear.
