Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

Government Shutdown Ends

After 43 days, the government ‘shut down’ has finally ended. After the Senate vote last Monday and the House vote on Wednesday, President Trump signed the Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act of 2026 which officially ‘opened up’ the federal government. The terms of the bill continue funding for the federal government until January 30th and included three appropriations bills which ensure funding for various federal agencies and programs through 2026.

Contrary to efforts by House Democrat leadership to whip their caucus against voting for the bill, six Democrats joined Republicans in voting to ‘reopen’ the government. In the Senate, Republicans were joined by eight Democrats in voting to advance the funding package, breaking with Senate Democrat leadership.

The Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act of 2026 can be read here.

Showdown with Minority Leader Jefferies on Healthcare

Last Tuesday, during the Rules Committee hearing to advance the government funding bill to end the shutdown, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies testified in favor of sending billions of taxpayer dollars to insurance companies. I used my time to educate the Democrat leader on the Affordable Care Act – since passed, healthcare has only gotten more expensive and coverage more restricted, and extending taxpayer subsidies to bailout Obamacare does nothing to address this.

“Democrats have nothing to run on, so they’re manufacturing a healthcare crisis that they themselves created.”

“Health insurance executives are minting money on the back of dollars coming from federal taxpayers, while our colleagues on the other side of the aisle have the temerity to come here and complain about the system they broke.”

What my Democratic colleagues are proposing is an insurance company enrichment scheme. Literally what they're doing is printing money in the treasury and giving it to insurance companies. That's their solution for healthcare — enriching insurance companies,”

Select Committee on Radical Left Wing Violence Letter

In the wake of the assassination of my dear friend Charlie Kirk, I penned a letter calling on Congress to act by establishing a select committee to investigate the money, influence, and power behind the radical left’s assault on America and the rule of law. The growing violence from the left manifested not only against Charlie Kirk, but against President Trump in his attempted assassination, the attempted assassinations of Republican lawmakers in 2017, the recent violence against conservatives at TPUSA’s UC Berkley event, and in many other tragic events.

Thursday, alongside 43 of my Republican colleagues as co-signers, my letter was officially delivered to Speaker Johnson, Chairman Jordan, and Chairman Comer. Organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and Goerge Soros’ Open Society Foundation have been fueling the left’s rising radicalism. My letter finally urges Congress to expose the shadowy dark money organizations dedicated to the destruction of our way of life.

“For years, Antifa terrorists have fomented and engaged in violence, ranging from nationwide riots to targeted attacks against those with whom they disagree… [and as such] Congress has an important interest in protecting Americans from political violence.”

“We must follow the money to identify the perpetrators of the coordinated anti-American assaults being carried out against us and take all steps under the law necessary to stop them.”

Veterans Day

Freedom isn’t Free. The sacrifices our veterans made are the reason we get to live in peace and prosperity at home. From the sands of Fallujah to the beaches of Normandy and the jungles of Vietnam, our veterans have put their lives on the line to protect their families and guard the American way. I grew up with the stories of both of my grandfathers’ service in World War two and the reverence for the flag and their comrades they felt. No words can ever express the gratitude that I, my family, my constituents, and my country have for the men and women who served this nation honorably, but from the depths of my heart, thank you all for your service.

Team Roy attended an assembly for Veterans Day at Tivy High School where Lt. Col. Paul Phillips and Col John Apostolides addressed students. The band and choir sang our National Anthem and saluted to the Armed Forces.

Marine Corps Birthday

Two hundred and fifty years ago on November 10th, 1775, the Continental Congress decreed the establishment of two battalions of Continental Marines. Organized under ‘The Father of the Marine Corps’ Samuel Nicholas, Tun Tavern became the birthplace of the marines as patriots from across the colonies showed up to enlist and fight for their freedom.

Since 1925, this momentous occasion is celebrated every year with a ‘Marine Corps Ball’ in which this nation’s heroes wear their famous and universally admired ‘dress blues’. This year is special because it marks a quarter millennium of the Marine Corps’ service to our country. From the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli, the United States Marine Corps has been the vanguard of this nation’s defense and stands apart as an honor echoing through time.
