California Democrats,
Today marks an exciting moment in California history as Senator Monique Limón begins her first day as the 50th President pro Tempore of the California State Senate. Senator Limón is the first woman of color—and the first Latina—and first mother—to hold this influential leadership role in our state government.
“Senator Limón’s election to President pro Tempore is a landmark moment for our state,” said CADEM Chair Rusty Hicks. “Her leadership reflects the unity, determination, and shared values that make California strong.”
A daughter of immigrants and lifelong Central Coast resident, Senator Limón has dedicated her career to serving her community as an educator, leader, and advocate, defending California values and uplifting all communities.
“This is a proud moment for California,” said CADEM Executive Director Yvette Martinez. “As only the second woman and the first Latina to serve as Senate President pro Tempore, Senator Limón is a trailblazer whose leadership signals a new chapter of representation and progress in our state.”
Please join us in congratulating California’s 50th Senate President Pro Tempore Monique Limón!
