Hello Friends,
I hope you’ve had a good fall filled with warmth and good company. Even as the weather cools, it’s inspiring to see our Philadelphia community gathering, supporting one another, and staying engaged both in our neighborhoods and in the important work happening across our city’s government.
Here are a few recent highlights of what I’ve been working on this fall with our incredible community members and leaders:
I was so proud to join the Share Food Program at their Turning the Tables: Hunger to Hope event last week. We heard from community leaders, advocates, and service providers about the real impact of the recent federal funding cuts on both families and nonprofits across our city. Food insecurity is not just a statistic, it’s a daily reality for many Philadelphians. I’m committed to working alongside our partners to build a future where every household has access to nutritious, affordable food – especially in the wake of the Trump Administration and GOP’s inhumane cuts to SNAP. We must continue to push back and do everything we can for our neighbors in need.

As Chair of the Council’s Technology Committee, we held a public hearing on artificial intelligence and its growing role in our city government. As technology evolves faster than ever, I’ll continue pushing for open communication and thoughtful policies that protect privacy while ensuring innovation and innovators can thrive and serve the public good.
I also introduced a resolution marking National Coding Week in Philadelphia to promote digital literacy and expand access to tech education. Partnering with groups like 1Philadelphia that help foster Philadelphia’s founder community and bolster our region’s tech industry, my office has been able to work on helping make sure Philadelphia’s tech startups and entrepreneurs have a partner in city hall.
It’s time we build our city into one that’s both innovative and equitable, and that starts with giving everyone the tools to participate in the digital future.

After months of collaboration with advocates and stakeholders, I was proud to pass critical updates to Philadelphia’s landmark Fair Chance Hiring Law, which considers job applicants based on their qualifications, not criminal records. These updates close loopholes, expand rights, and clarifies the law’s implementation, ensuring people with criminal records have a real chance to rebuild their lives through employment.

Election Day was full of energy, teamwork, and community spirit across Philadelphia. It was inspiring to see neighbors, volunteers, and first-time voters come together to make their voices heard. Every ballot cast strengthens our democracy and I’ll keep working to ensure that every voice continues to shape the future of our city.
As we head into the winter season, I’m grateful for everyone who continues to show up, speak out, and stand together for a stronger Philadelphia. Let’s carry this momentum forward into the months ahead, because when our community moves together, real change follows!
