Dear John,
NIAC just sent an urgent letter to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Attorney General Pamela Bondi after reports [[link removed]] that the Trump administration may block people from getting green cards just because they’re Iranian.
TAKE ACTION NOW [[link removed]]
According to The New York Times [[link removed]] , draft documents show that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is considering treating people from countries named in President Trump’s travel ban as having “significant negative factors” they would use to deny green cards to rightful applicants. This would be a discriminatory and unlawful expansion of the travel ban that infringes on our rights as Iranian nationals and violates federal law.Tell Secretaries Noem and Rubio and Attorney General Bondi to reject this idea and uphold basic fairness and equality.

Our letter makes three key points:
* National-origin discrimination is illegal. Federal law prohibits it in immigration decisions.
* Visa holders already undergo intensive vetting, especially those from so-called “banned” countries.
* National origin is not a security risk and cannot legally be weaponized as one.
We also remind the administration of its own words: President Trump has repeatedly praised Iranian Americans as “one of the most successful immigrant groups” in the country.
Any move to block green cards because of where someone was born would violate federal law, damage American families, and weaken our country.

Our community’s rights are not optional. NIAC will continue fighting to ensure they are protected.
