We just took the EPA to court — because
the agency is failing to protect our health.

The Threat
For five years, the EPA has underestimated or ignored scientific
evidence that widely used “neonic” pesticides can cause lasting
neurological harm, all while these chemicals keep showing up in
the foods families across America put on their tables every day.

Their inaction puts kids and communities
at risk. NRDC is stepping in to stop it.

Neonics are the most commonly used class
of insecticides in the world today. They’re driving the collapse
of bees and other pollinators, and research shows they pose
serious dangers to children’s developing brains.

Children are especially vulnerable. The
impact can be long-lasting. Even permanent.

How We’re Responding
In 2020, NRDC petitioned the EPA to immediately revisit and
revoke the unsafe levels of neonics allowed in our food supply.
The law is clear: the EPA is required to ensure our food is safe
— especially for children.

But the EPA refused to act. And instead
of correcting course, the agency has stalled, delayed, and
postponed that review ever since.

All while neonics continue to contaminate
our food. All while pollinators continue to disappear. All while
families are left in the dark.

We are done waiting.

NRDC has now filed suit to force the EPA
to do its job: review the science, follow the law, and protect
public health.
