Dear John,
This month marks the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, a landmark civil rights bill for people with disabilities. At ASAN, we’re celebrating in many ways, including by launching our new action center and sharing our accessible resources to help people with disabilities make a difference on the issues that matter most to us. We’re also launching a new and improved membership program to keep ASAN’s work going for decades to come, and to thank the community members who make our work possible.
These monthly membership plans come with special perks such as a digital membership card or exclusive ASAN merch. Each one is named after a special interest shared by some autistic people, to celebrate autistic culture. Want to learn more about the tiers? Check out our membership page here.
(If a monthly membership isn’t for you, but you still want to donate to support our work, you can do so here!)
Our community makes all of our projects possible. This year alone, we’ve:
- Fought to ensure people with disabilities aren’t left out of the response to the coronavirus pandemic, including through action alerts that help our community engage in grassroots advocacy on critical issues.
- Launched our new Action Center, which provides resources for anyone who wants to make a difference on disability policy.
- Released accessible toolkits that ensure all people with disabilities have the tools we need to speak out about policy that affects our lives, including our plain-language booklet on police violence.
- Hosted a virtual Autism Campus Inclusion Leadership Academy welcoming a cohort of autistic college students to learn to be self-advocates on and off their campuses.
- Published Welcome to the Autistic Community, a book and resource hub for autistics and allies learning about self-advocacy, our community, and our rights.
Becoming a member is a great way to support all this work and more, all while getting rewards and membership-exclusive content! Check out our new membership program, and let’s keep making change together.
With gratitude,
The Team at ASAN
P.S. - Our scholarship memberships, for self-advocates who can’t pay for membership, aren’t going anywhere! Autistic people and those with other developmental disabilities can get our digital perks for free - contact [email protected] to get signed up.
