Mitch McConnell has a warning for Democrats: if you take the Senate in November, don’t you dare try to change the rules.
It seems the so-called “Grim Reaper” of progressive legislation has seen the writing on the wall (and the polls) and is now trying to tell Democrats how to run Congress next year.
In particular, McConnell cautioned against changing the Senate rule that requires 60 members to move to a vote on a bill -- the same rule that Barack Obama said made it “almost impossible” to govern.
Maybe Mitch McConnell wants to go back to being a thorn in the side of a Democratic president. For now, we think we’ll let his advice fall by the wayside -- and hopefully, after November, his career as well. But that’s all just wishful thinking if the GOP maintains Senate control -- so tell us, now:
