The double standard is appalling: After Texas redrew its maps without giving voters a say, it was crickets from the White House. But when California offered voters the choice? That’s something “Our Constitution does not tolerate.”
Those are the Trump Administration’s words — not ours. They really believe the Constitution doesn’t “tolerate” a free and fair election on our state’s Congressional maps. But rigging the maps in closed-door meetings and smoke-filled rooms, just like they did in Texas? To Trump, that’s A-OK.
Look, this lawsuit is based on lie after lie after lie — but we can’t just assume it’s going to fail. The full weight of the federal government is behind Trump’s scheme, so we can’t become complacent. We have to be prepared. And we have to defend our democracy with everything we’ve got.
