Dear John,

Charles Eisenstein will join our next LPE meeting on Wednesday, November 19th <[link removed]>, to explore another aspect of culture: stories.

We live in a culture of stories. Some stories come to us as fairy tales we learned as children, the tales held within books we read, and the plots of the movies we watch. But some stories run deeper than that.

Some stories sustain the War Economy and the lie that it is "reality." We are told we are separate, powerless, and that our importance and purpose lies in consuming.

How do we explore insidious lies that are touted as truth since we were born? How do we define the "water" that we, fish in the ocean, swim in? What stories are available to us that scaffold a growing awareness of a Local Peace Economy in our lives.

The creation of new stories, based on the truth that we are enmeshed with each other and the more-than-human world in profound was, is a foundational way that we might begin to create a culture of peace. Won't you join us?

For those of your who joined our last LPE Meeting <[link removed]>, we were grateful to all those gathered to hear the poet Drew Dellinger. He read us one of his poems, The Quislings <[link removed]>, that deeply spoke to the current political moment we find ourselves deep within. He and Jodie then had a conversation about how political awakenings occur, the cosmic depth of the change needed in our culture, and how poetry and art is the foundation of such change. His poem, Hieroglyphic Stairway, <[link removed]>has been one of Marie's favorites for more than a decade (and is quoted in the image above.)

Mark Your Calendars: Our December schedule for LPE gatherings is going to be irregular from our usual, every-other-Wednesday events. There will be no LPE meetings on either December 3rd or New Years Eve. But Local Peace Economy work will be the focus of the  Anti Imperialist Campaign Series, kicking off with a webinar on December 8th <[link removed]>. We will have other events during the weeks of December 8th and December 15th, and will send out more information about how to RSVP in future emails.

Want to take action this week? CBS’s 60 Minutes has been spreading dangerous pro-war propaganda and pushing false narratives about China and Venezuela that serve the interests of the U.S. empire. We can’t let one of the most influential news programs in the country become a megaphone for militarism and regime change. Send this letter <[link removed]>to the producers of 60 Minutes and demand that CBS stop acting as a mouthpiece for U.S. wars. Together, we can hold the media accountable and push back against the lies driving us toward war.
