My friend and colleague Gary Peters of Michigan is one of just
two Democratic incumbent senators running in states that
President Trump won in 2016 (the other is Doug Jones in Alabama).
As FiveThirtyEight has noted, Republicans see an upset in
Michigan as key to Mitch McConnell's efforts to hold the majority
in the Senate even if they lose elsewhere.

That's why Republicans are going all out to help their extreme
Trump-supporting candidate John James, including fundraising
support from Donald Trump Jr., a visit to Michigan from President
Trump himself and a massive infusion of money to a Super PAC
targeting Peters from the wealthy family of Betsy DeVos -- one of
Michigan's wealthiest clans.

And that's why The Washington Post has reported that Gary Peters
has faced among the most well-financed attacks of any senator or
senator candidate in the country. Gary needs help fighting back
