As a Democrat, I’m frustrated by what happened in D.C. this week.

 

I need to be real with you, Team.

As a Democrat, I’m frustrated by what happened in D.C. this week. After the country’s longest government shutdown, a handful of Democrats caved to Trump’s pressure and voted for a deal that does nothing to lower the cost of health care for working families across Michigan.

Still, I’m proud as hell that Michigan Democrats held their ground and put Michigan families first. The energy and determination that Michigan Democrats take to D.C. is exactly what America needs right now.

While Michigan Democrats fought to protect health care in America, every single Michigan Republican stood lockstep with Trump and used food assistance as a weapon to hold our federal government hostage. We can’t let Michigan voters forget this.

Whether you’re feeling frustrated by this vote or you’re feeling energized after last week’s election — or maybe you’re feeling both — I hope you’ll channel that into the work we have ahead of us.

Together, we need to fight to elect Democrats who are willing to stand up for Michigan families and fire these Republicans who are only serving billionaires. And that work starts right now.

Democrats proved last week that when we come together, we win. I’m counting on you to stand with Michigan Democrats today by chipping in any amount. Today marks the halfway point of the month, and we need to gain ground to stay on track and build the Blue Wave in Michigan.
