Dear Friend,
The need for clean water doesn’t stop when there’s a pandemic. Throughout these challenging times, Waterkeeper Alliance has stepped up for communities across the globe.
Waterkeeper Alliance has sued to challenge the EPA’s suspension of pollution monitoring ([link removed]) and reporting requirements during the pandemic. Waterkeeper settled another suit, resulting in EPA agreeing to propose new regulations for emerging contaminants ([link removed]) to protect our drinking water. And despite the public health crisis, Waterkeeper groups around the world have continued to fight for clean water ([link removed]) , cleaning up rivers, monitoring waters to see if they're safe for public use, and running remote educational programs for children.
In order to continue this work, and more, your help is needed more than ever. In addition to advocating for Waterkeeper Alliance, there are multiple ways to support our work, and we want to help you figure out which way works best for you.
1. Transfer stocks - If you have appreciated stocks, one of the most powerful ways to give is by transferring your assets directly to Waterkeeper. Not only is this an impactful gift, it is also a way to avoid paying capital gains taxes. Transfer stocks today. ([link removed])
2. Are you 70.5 or older? - Donors 70.5 and older with a traditional IRA are eligible to make a tax-free gift to the Waterkeeper Alliance directly from their IRA. These gifts are always tax-free, regardless of whether you itemize deductions on your tax return. Use our tool to give from your IRA today. ([link removed])
3. Create a legacy - Join the many donors who have chosen to create a lasting legacy with the Waterkeeper Alliance in their wills. You can support clean water forever without paying a cent today using our free will-writing tool. It takes 20 minutes to take care of the people and causes you care about the most. Start your legacy now. ([link removed])
Thank you for doing what you can to support Waterkeeper Alliance and Waterkeepers everywhere.
Mary Beth Postman
Deputy Director
