Today is the primary election here in Maine, which means we’ll soon learn who our Republican opponent will be. Before that, though, I wanted to remind you what we’re up against.

A few days ago, our team updated you all on the latest instance of outside spending in the Republican primary -- instances which have become increasingly common over the past few months.

Let me be clear about one thing: Whoever wins this primary -- whether they directly benefited from this most recent episode of outside spending or not -- will now be the sole beneficiary of it moving forward.

After the results come in and a winner is declared, these dark money and special interest groups will focus all their efforts -- and cash -- on boosting our opponent. That means our fight to keep Jared in Congress is only just beginning.

But as a grassroots campaign, we rely on supporters like you to keep us going, not deep-pocketed special interest groups.
