Ending Sexploitation Podcast: Leaders in Germany & Japan Speak Out Against Legalized Prostitution

Government leaders in Germany and Japan have spoken out boldly against legalizing prostitution. In some instances, they’ve even gone as far as to say that prostitution needs to be completely eradicated!

Dani and Haley take a closer look at these stories from around the world and talk about what it means globally as well as here in the United States. There are consequences of legalizing prostitution that we’ve seen within our own country – specifically in Nevada. Survivors have united in support of Jane Doe, a Nevada sex trafficking survivor who was sex trafficked in legal brothel prostitution in Nevada for years.

The GUARD Act Would Add Protections Desperately Needed for Children Using AI

Theodore (pseudonym) was a kind and thoughtful teenage boy. According to his parents, he loved nature, playing with his siblings, and was always eager to help out around the house. Within months of using Character.AI’s chatbot, the Theodore that his family and friends knew disappeared.

He suffered from daily panic attacks, became socially isolated, and had frequent thoughts of harming himself and others. He became physically aggressive and one day, he even got so upset with his family that he cut his arm with a knife in front of them.

It wasn’t until Theodore’s mom recovered chats on his phone with Character.AI’s bot that she figured out what had happened. The bot had been sending him sexually explicit content, encouraged him to harm himself, and actually told him that he should consider killing his parents because they were trying to limit his screen time.

“I had no idea the psychological harm an AI chatbot could do, until I saw my son’s light turn dark,” his mom said.

Theodore now requires around-the-clock care in a psychiatric treatment center.

This story is beyond tragic. But what’s even more disturbing? Comparatively speaking, Theodore is one of the lucky ones. He escaped with his life. Some other children have not.

This is why the GUARD Act  has been introduced in the Senate. This bill would implement robust safety regulations for AI chatbots and AI companions and protect children from the rampant harms that have already stolen lives.

PCMAG: Texas Sues Roblox, Claims It's 'A Breeding Ground for Predators’

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing Roblox for “flagrantly” ignoring state and federal online safety laws, following Louisiana and Kentucky.

The game, which is thought to have over 150 million monthly users, with 40% under age 13, has “become a breeding ground for predators," Paxton claims. The GOP AG says Roblox repeatedly exposes children to “sexually explicit content, exploitation, and grooming,” and that it's prioritizing “pixel pedophiles and corporate profit over the safety of Texas children.”

...

Paxton's criticisms of the platform aren't unique; a 2024 report from the National Center on Sexual Exploitation labeled Roblox “a tool for sexual predators [and] a threat for children's safety," and urged it to institute new safety features and parental controls.

Daily Wire: The Chatbot Diaries: How AI Sex is Getting Mainstreamed

AI chatbots are taking the world by storm. The Daily Wire recently published a story highlighting the dangers of allowing chatbots to engage in sexual conversations with users, the growing problem of image-based sexual abuse (i.e. "deepfake" pornography), and what happens when children have access to AI chatbots.

NCOSE's Executive Director, Haley McNamara, offered some insight on the prevalence of sexual deepfakes:

"It's a huge problem. It takes less time to make a convincing sexual deepfake of somebody than it takes to brew a cup of coffee...  This issue of image-based sexual abuse is something that is really relevant for all of us now if even a single image of you exists online."

The Wire added that when AI chatbots with faulty restrictions engage with children, the consequences can be disastrous. Some children have even taken their own lives following the advice of a chatbot.
