Email from Tarrant County Republican Party Plus, the Muslim City rebrands   Contribute Today to Support This Work! Chairman French Has Resigned This week, Chairman French announced his immediate resignation as Party Chair and launched a run for the Texas Railroad Commission. His announcement made waves with nearly a million views and was covered in the media statewide. If you would like to keep up with him, feel free to check out his website bofrench.com. With his resignation, Party Secretary Danna Trowbridge called an executive committee meeting for next Saturday the 22nd to elect a new Party Chair. Precinct Chairs will be able to vote and select who will finish out the remainder of the term. Candidates can still file for the Party Chair position on the Primary Ballot regardless of how the election on the 22nd goes. The upcoming meeting will determine who holds the Chair position until next summer, while the Primary election will determine who serves as Chair for the next biennium. Hopefully, next Saturday, we will have a new Chair elected! Ending Countywide Primaries One of Chairman French's last actions, in negotiating the upcoming primary, was to demand that Tarrant County have a Republican primary without county voting and with hand-counted ballots. This has been set in motion, and, if continued, will mean our primary will be hand-counted and will have precinct voting rather than countywide. We will see how the next chair handles negotiating the primary. But this is where we are today. More to come once we have a new chair elected. Muslim City Rebrands The controversial Muslim City, called "EPIC City," after East Plano Islamic Center, has decided to rebrand. It has received enough attention from Abbott, Paxton, and Republicans across the state that it decided to remove "Islam" from its name. But the project remains the same. The community has changed its name to "The Meadow." East Plano Islamic Center City is now its dead-name, as the liberals would say. Remember that Paxton has referred the group behind this Muslim city to the Texas State Securities Board for investigation. We will see what comes of that. Closed Primary Lawsuit Continues As you may know, the Republican Party is Texas is currently in the midst of a lawsuit against Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson in an attempt to close the primaries. Closed primaries were supported by 73% of Republican voters on our 2024 ballot proposition. This week, Nelson announced her intention to spend over $1 million in taxpayer dollars to fight the RPT's lawsuit. Attorney General Ken Paxton has sided with the Republican Party in the lawsuit, hoping to close our primaries. One of the attorneys retained by Jane Nelson, who will be paid with your tax dollars, James Xi, is allegedly billing $1,500 per hour. You can read more about the story here.
