Dear VCC Community,

I’ve just returned from the National Citizens Inquiry hearings in Brandon, Manitoba. The Commissioners received powerful testimony from witnesses on a number of topics crucial to the health and safety of children. These included: surrogacy, vaccination, medically assisted dying, child sexual grooming in our schools, attacks on the authority of parents, medical kidnapping, and more. As much as I thought I knew, I discovered even more ways that our children are at risk in Canada today. 

Witnesses explained how doctors are being prevented from practicing patient-centered medicine by their regulatory agencies and Health Canada. Teachers are forced to lie to parents whose children are experiencing gender confusion or face discipline. Politicians are censured and removed from political parties for asking difficult questions. Judges and law enforcement refuse to abide by their oath to serve and protect. And parents are increasingly being lied to and marginalized by state agents. 

Our children are under a multi-pronged attack and parents are being intentionally removed, silenced, and misled. One witness described the situation as “ institutional betrayal ”. Another as “ criminal behaviour by those we trusted to keep our children safe ”. And another stated – “ None of us is safe .”

As dark at the testimony was, there was light during the three days in Brandon. I witnessed the power of courage, morality, faith, and selfless commitment to the safety of children. Witness after witness refused to be silenced, refused to be intimidated by threats and attacks, and refused to accept comfort and compliance instead of doing what is right.

These hearings also confirmed the importance of citizen-led, citizen organized, and citizen funded efforts to learn the truth and to call for accountability. This is also the mandate of Vaccine Choice Canada.

I believe that it is not the government, doctors, law enforcement or judges who will protect our children. It is a well informed and supported parent. Parents need to know what we know. Governments, public health and schools are no longer safe places for our children. Parents need our support. Children need our protection. 

I believe the change will only come from organizations like Vaccine Choice Canada who refuse to be silenced, who are independent of government funding, and who love the truth and our children more than our comfort.

Bill C-9 is an Urgent Threat to Free Expression in Canada

The Canadian Constitution Foundation (CCF) writes... The Carney government’s so-called “Combatting Hate Act” would make sweeping changes to Canada’s hate speech and hate crime laws. While prejudice and discrimination should be condemned, the proposed law gives the government new power to subjectively determine which words and ideas are acceptable – a direct threat to the Charter right to freedom of expression.

The CCF urges Parliament to reject Bill C-9 in its current form. Canadians are not safer when controversial speech is driven underground. The best answer to hate is more speech – not censorship.
