John,

From the beginning of this disastrous Trump presidency, I’ve advocated for Democrats to fight back with every lawful tool we have – because I know what’s at stake, and I know how dangerous it is to do anything that helps this corrupt wanna-be dictator advance his terrible agenda.

That’s why I voted “no” this week on the lousy “deal” brokered by a handful of breakaway Senate Democrats. They unthinkably chose to give away our leverage and let Republicans off the hook, for now, on the healthcare crisis they have set in motion with their Big Ugly Bill. But the fight goes on.

While I’m dismayed by their decision, I’m proud that the overwhelming majority of Democrats in the House and Senate stood strong and unified. Over the past six weeks, we elevated the healthcare crisis – including the looming expiration of Affordable Care Act tax credits that have helped millions of Americans afford their coverage – into the national conversation and created tremendous pressure on Trump and Republicans to undo some of the damage they’ve done. We shared real-world stories about families across the country who are seeing their health insurance premiums skyrocket. 37,000 households in my district alone are at risk of being unable to afford coverage – a crisis that compounds the already overwhelming challenge of affordability that is hammering so many families and communities.

Here’s what I want you to know: House Democrats are still fighting – we’re not backing down. We’re going to keep the pressure on Trump and his Republican allies in Congress – on healthcare, on affordability, on corruption, on the Epstein files, and more.

A few Democrats broke ranks and cut a “deal” this week that I believe they already regret – because in addition to weakening our leverage on healthcare, it included a grotesquely corrupt provision for taxpayers to give eight GOP Senators $1 million each simply because they were investigated by a federal grand jury. It’s disgusting.

I won’t support weak, dirty deals like that. And I won’t ever pretend we can trust Trump and his MAGA enablers in Congress to keep their word. I’m in this fight to win, not to fold and not to be duped. There’s simply too much at stake.

Because this isn’t about line items in a budget or political calculations. It’s about whether you can afford to see a doctor, fill a prescription, or take your child to the hospital without going broke. It’s about the integrity of our justice system and the continued viability of our democracy, all of which is under direct attack right now.

So yes, I’m proud of the way most congressional Democrats stood strong… dismayed that a few lacked the courage and clarity to stand with us… and totally resolved to take this fight forward for you and for our shared values.

If you stand with me in this fight, add your name now to show you want Democrats to push to keep health care affordable for everyone:

We’ve come too far to let MAGA extremists roll back progress or make health care a luxury item again. This fight matters – it’s part of a bigger fight too – and I’m here for all of it, for the long haul.
