John,

A huge thank you to all who joined us for the "Cut the Greed" Town Hall! This was our second town hall to prepare our community for the impacts of the deceptively named Republican budget, the "One Big Beautiful Bill" Act.

Thousands of you RSVP’d but if you missed it, you can watch a recording of the event here. [link removed]

Experts at these events detailed how this Republican budget threatens to slash health care and food benefits and drastically alter education funding. These cuts will inevitably create huge state budget shortfalls, and we want our members to have a seat at the table to advocate for responsible solutions, especially for Black and underserved communities.

However, this event was overshadowed by the end of the longest government shutdown in history. Democrats had promised no deal would be made without an agreement to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies. That promise was broken. Due to Chuck Schumer's lack of leadership, he was unable to keep party unity and have Senate Democrats to hold the line. Which resulted in the end of the shutdown with only a vague promise of a future vote on healthcare. A "promise of a vote" is not enough—we needed results.

Send a clear message: We must deliver health care for millions of Americans now.

TELL THE SENATE TO DELIVER OUR HEALTH CARE: [link removed]

Senator Chuck Schumer and the eight Democrats who voted to reopen the government, while millions see their health care costs double and triple, must be held to account.

But right now, we have to keep fighting for our community. Email your senators now and demand they make good on their promise.

Until Justice Is Real,
