My legal battle against the Trump administration continues.
The court just denied my motions to dismiss these baseless charges. This decision is disappointing, but my case is not over and I will keep fighting.
From the start, it has been clear: The Trump administration is trying to intimidate me, go after me for doing my job and drain me of my resources. They’ve made it clear they want to see this through, and because of their meritless charges, I’m facing up to 17 years in prison. I worry this decision will only embolden Trump more.
My case is precedent-setting. It will shape the future of our democracy. These charges are an intimidation tactic, but it won’t work. While the judge’s decision this week is not what we had hoped, it is only one step. I will continue to stand tall and do the work the people elected me to do, and we will see the Trump administration in court.
The Trump administration wants to punish political opponents and anyone who speaks up, silence dissent, drain me of my resources with an expensive legal battle, and put me in prison for up to 17 years. I am being targeted for doing my oversight work at an ICE facility earlier this year.
They want to make an example out of me, but I refuse to back down. I am not in this fight only for myself—I am in this for our community and our country. I need you by my side.
