MY VOTE TO END THE DEMOCRAT SHUTDOWN AND REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT It’s shameful that Democrats kept the government shut down for 43 days all to give free healthcare to illegal immigrants and spend $1.5 trillion we don’t have. They forced our troops, border patrol agents, and Air Traffic Controllers to work without pay and hurt our farmers during harvest season to push their out-of-touch agenda. I voted to end the Democrat shutdown and reopen the government to pay our troops, feed needy families, fully staff our FSA offices, and restore order to our nation’s airports. This political stunt by the Democrats caused unnecessary harm to Iowa families, farmers, seniors, and small businesses — and I’m glad it’s finally over. Read More MEETING WITH IOWA VETERANS AT HY-VEE'S 26TH ANNUAL VETERANS DAY BREAKFAST IN FORT DODGE It was great to start Veterans Day at Hy-Vee’s 26th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast in Fort Dodge. Our nation is stronger and more secure because of the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of Iowans who selflessly answered the call to serve. I am so grateful for our Iowa veterans and appreciate their selfless service to our country. SPEAKING AT THE IOWA VETERANS HOME IN MARSHALLTOWN Later that morning, I had the honor of speaking at the Iowa Veterans Home Veterans Day program in Marshalltown. The Iowa Veterans Home with Commandant of the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs Todd Jacobus at the helm is the gold standard for veteran care. As a proud Iowan and proud American, I will always support our veterans because they are American heroes who have kept our nation the greatest on Earth. RECEIVING A DOCUMENT CERTIFYING MY FLIGHT ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE I appreciated receiving a document certifying that I flew aboard Air Force One with President Trump earlier this year. It was an honor to fly to Iowa on Air Force One and talk about President Trump’s historic achievements for our country. Iowa supports the America First agenda!
