Under the direction of Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, and Stephen Miller, ICE is terrorizing Oregonians and Oregon families.

Recently, I visited one of my constituents who was abducted by ICE and held in the detention center in Tacoma for weeks. I was able to speak with him, but only through a plexiglass wall.

He has no criminal record, a permit to work in the U.S., and a pending visa case. This happened because careless and impulsive ICE agents stopped and then detained the wrong person – and it's terrifying.

Finally, after several weeks in detention, my constituent was released and reunited with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Many in the Hillsboro community and beyond spoke up to support him. But to put it plainly, ICE is out of control.

I will continue to conduct oversight on ICE detention facilities and fight back against their cruel and chaotic actions. I will not sit by while anyone is unfairly or illegally targeted by ICE or Trump's Justice Department.
