Vol. 119, Issue #29

Dear Friends / Estimados Amigos,

The government shutdown is finally over. It achieved nothing except hurting hard-working Americans. Families who rely on food assistance and other essential services will now have them restored.

With Congress back to work, my priorities are clear: real immigration reform, lowering the cost of living, lowering healthcare costs, and standing up to communism at home and abroad.

My offices are open and ready to assist you. Some federal agencies may take time to resume full operations, but my team and I are here every day to help you and your family.

Sincerely / Atentamente,

María E. Salazar

U.S. Representative (FL-27)

How am I doing as your congresswoman?

ADVANCING THE HEALTHCARE PREMIUM EXTENSION ACT

The House is back. Finally!

As we return to work, my top priority is ensuring Americans can access the healthcare and benefits they rely on. Too many families are struggling with rising costs, and no one should have to choose between paying their bills and getting the care they need.

That’s why I’m proud to co-sponsor the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act. This legislation extends key healthcare subsidies that help millions of Americans afford quality coverage. It’s a straightforward, commonsense measure that lets individuals and families keep the plans they like, without sudden cost increases.

ANTI-COMMUNISM EDUCATION WEEK

It’s Anti-Communism Week in America, a time to remember the undeniable truth: communism is the deadliest ideology in human history, responsible for more than 100 million deaths and countless lives destroyed. From political purges to forced labor camps, it has brought only collapse, corruption, and suffering everywhere it’s been tried.

As we mark this week, we honor the victims who lost their families, freedoms, and homelands to this poisonous ideology. Their stories remind us what happens when liberty is stripped away in the name of control.

May we continue to educate future generations, stand firm for freedom, and ensure America never forgets the lessons of history.

HOLDING THE CUBAN REGIME AND ITS ACCOMPLICES ACCOUNTABLE

Last year, my colleagues and I alerted the Biden Administration after learning that Luis Raúl González-Pardo Rodríguez, a former pilot for the Cuban regime, had been allowed into the United States.

This week, federal officials indicted him for immigration fraud, alleging he lied on his application by denying decades of military service and weapons training in the Cuban Revolutionary Air and Air Defense Force.

Operatives of a murderous dictatorship should never be allowed to hide their past to gain U.S. protections. We must remain vigilant and ensure that those who served brutal regimes are held accountable.

IN THE MEDIA: SPEAKING UP FOR SOUTH FLORIDA

This week, I joined national and local media outlets to discuss the government shutdown, immigration, the ongoing fight for freedom in Cuba and Venezuela, and other key issues impacting District 27.

I’ll keep speaking up for South Florida families and defending our values, faith, freedom, and opportunity on every platform where our voice can make a difference.
