John, I made an incredibly difficult decision that I want to share with you. It would mean the world to me if you'd read my message until the end.
When I decided to run for Senate, it was because I believed — and still believe — I have something important to offer: A champion who fights for you as hard as I fight for my own family.
But sometimes paths shift, and you have to meet your purpose as it comes.
I recently learned the Congressman from my home district is stepping down. Lewiston is the place that shaped me, raised me, and gave me my sense of duty. Which is why I've made the difficult decision to step out of this Senate race and refocus my efforts to run for Congress to represent my hometown, instead.
This was not an easy decision. So many of you invested your hopes — and your hard-earned dollars — into this Senate campaign. I don't take that lightly for a second. I will never forget how you believed in me.
But this Senate campaign was never about me. It was always about how I could best serve you, my community, and my country. I firmly believe I can have the most impact by picking up the mantle in this House race, and I am humbly asking you to join me by taking my Campaign Priorities Survey and sharing your thoughts on how I can best represent you in this campaign. This is the most competitive seat in the ENTIRE country. Republicans will spend MILLIONS to take it from us. If Democrats don’t hold this seat, our shot to flip the House is non-existent. It’s that simple. So it's critical I know what's important to you, your family, and the voters of Maine’s 2nd district. I set an ambitious goal to gather 1,000 responses in my first 24 hours to kick this new campaign off in an undeniable position of strength. I can’t tell you how much it would mean to me to see your name as one of my very first responders before midnight. Can I count on you? »
Please allow me to explain why this House race in Maine’s 2nd district is so critical to Democrats’ chances of winning back the House.
- This is the MOST competitive seat in the entire country
- Democrats currently hold it — but Trump won this seat in the last election
- That means he sees it as one of his top pickup opportunities to keep the House red
Make no mistake, Trump and Republicans will spend MILLIONS to take this seat from Democrats.
If we don’t hold onto this seat and protect it with everything we have, our chance to flip the House will be as good as gone. I don’t say this lightly.
Lewiston is my hometown. And I intend to fight for it, and ensure Democrats reclaim the House. I need you to fight with me, John.
That’s why I’m kicking off my campaign by doing what public servants should do: listening to the voters they want to represent. So I’m humbly asking: Will you take my Campaign Priorities Survey and help me reach my ambitious goal of 1,000 responses in my first 24 hours of this new campaign? I will be personally reading each response and using your feedback to shape how we run this race. I can’t tell you how much I’m relying on your input »
Thank you,
Jordan Wood
