Every American should have the ability to Vote at Home with nationwide vote-by-mail.
In primary elections across the country, we have already seen the lengths Republicans will go to attack absentee voting and use the public health risks of in-person voting during a pandemic to suppress the vote.
It’s clear that if we want to conduct a free and fair election this November, we need nationwide and universal vote-by-mail.
But unless Democrats force nationwide vote-by-mail into the next must-pass relief package, it won't happen in time for November. Time is running out.
That’s why we need to put all the pressure we can on Democrats in Congress to not back down during negotiations, and force universal vote-by-mail into the next must-pass spending package in Congress.
Donald Trump is already on record saying he is opposed to vote-by-mail because it “for whatever reason, doesn’t work out well for Republicans.”
We cannot allow the coronavirus to threaten the safety of our democracy. Without this crucial reform, Americans across the country could be forced to risk their health in order to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Democrats can’t let that happen. Congress must act immediately to ensure every American has the right to vote by mail before it’s too late.
