Dear John,
Did you know that turkeys are highly social animals who form strong bonds with their families? In the wild, turkeys show affection and are happiest in close-knit groups. A hen and her young stay together for as long as five months, and brothers form lifelong bonds. They grieve when separated, calling out for their flock members in distress.
But at factory farms, packed into sheds by the thousands, these sensitive birds can't form stable families or do anything that makes their lives worth living.
In November alone, over 40 million turkeys will be slaughtered in the United States.
You have the power to make a difference this holiday season by celebrating with a compassionate plant-based feast. To make it easier than ever, we're sharing our digital cookbook Plant-Powered Holidays: Delicious Recipes for a Turkey-Free Table, packed with festive recipes that are kind to animals.
