In Gaza, the ceasefire is holding, but women and girls are still exhausted, starving, and afraid. Mothers are doing everything they can to keep their children alive.

Everybody is hungry.

For pregnant women and newborns, this is a deadly threat. An estimated 55,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women are suffering from acute malnutrition. One in three pregnancies is high risk, and 70% of babies born in Gaza today are premature or underweight, making them more likely to become sick, experience development delays, or even die.

With winter approaching and only two aid crossings into the region, our concern for women, girls, pregnant women, and newborns in Gaza grows by the day.

UNFPA teams on the ground report women going into labor without food, without water, and without medical care. We are urgently scaling up our response in Gaza to sustain and restore lifesaving services for women and girls, including maternal healthcare.

This is what famine looks like — for women and babies in Gaza, and humanitarian crises zones worldwide. Please, give what you can to help deliver nutrition, care, and dignity to Gazans facing unimaginable conditions. [[link removed]?]

SEND AN EMERGENCY GIFT [[link removed]?]

“Food keeps us alive, but pads, soap, and privacy let us live with dignity,” said Maysa , who is displaced in Khan Younis.

UNFPA does more than just help women and babies survive — we help provide women and girls with dignity. For women and girls facing their periods — there are no pads, no clean water, and no privacy — just shame, silence, and pain.

More than 700,000 women and girls in Gaza are managing their periods without the most basic sanitary supplies. Many are forced to use toilet paper or torn-up clothing leading to infections and loss of dignity.

This is not just a crisis. This is cruelty.

UNFPA is delivering Dignity Kits, mobile maternity clinics, and emergency supplies. We’ve already reached hundreds of thousands of women and girls, but far too many are still waiting for help. Will you make an emergency gift right now to support mothers and girls in Gaza and across the globe? [[link removed]?]

RUSH A LIFESAVING GIFT [[link removed]?]

Two years of war has turned natural experiences — pregnancy, childbirth, and menstruation — into nightmares.

Your gift today can help provide soap, pads, incubators, safe births, and dignity for women and girls caught in this catastrophe.

We welcome the ceasefire agreement, the release of all hostages by Hamas, and the delivery of lifesaving humanitarian aid in Gaza. We are hopeful that peace will prevail and that the suffering of women, girls, and families will end.

Thank you for being there in this urgent moment.
