John,

We find ourselves in a political moment where the Trump administration is testing the limits of what we will allow to happen to the most vulnerable among us—our immigrant friends, family and neighbors. Now it’s more important than ever to act with courage and compassion, and to stand together in solidarity as allies.

Here are four ways that you can support immigrant communities today:

1. Learn how to document ICE activity in your community ([link removed])
Seeing ICE in your community can be jarring, but if you learn how to effectively flex your rights in the moment, you can help keep yourself and others safe.

2. Call your elected representatives and tell them to support the New York for All Act ([link removed])
All New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status or how long they’ve been in our state, want to lead open lives, participate in their communities, provide for their family, and access health care without intimidation. The New York for All Act ([link removed]) helps immigrant New Yorkers lead more open lives and take care of family, preserves state and local resources for our communities, and ensures New York dollars cannot be diverted to carry out a cruel, politicized immigration agenda.

3. Support immigrant owned businesses and neighborhoods
Eat, shop, and spend time and money in neighborhoods targeted by ICE. When we claim our immigrant neighbors as valued contributors to our communities, we send the message that they cannot be taken from us in silence and isolation.

4. Contribute to the Emergency Justice Fund ([link removed])
The Emergency Justice Fund ([link removed]) provides direct cash assistance to immigrants who have been detained. All donations raised will go directly to immigrants to support their commissary and bond funds, costs associated with reuniting with their families, legal fees, housing support, and other basic needs resources.

Together, we can stand up for immigrant New Yorkers, and build communities based on justice, compassion and belonging.

In solidarity,

Murad Awawdeh
President and CEO
