The Supreme Court just agreed to take up two explosive cases about mail-in voting, including one that could allow states to toss out legal ballots simply because they arrive a few days late, even if they’re postmarked on time.
This is exactly the kind of voter suppression Trump and his allies have been demanding, a way to make it harder for everyday Americans to vote by mail, especially in close races.
Let’s be clear: Voting by mail is safe, secure, and has been a lifeline for millions of voters – including Trump himself, who has voted by mail in nearly every election since 2018.
But now that it doesn’t serve his political interests, he wants the Supreme Court to ban it – and with the Court taking this case, he just might get his way.
That’s why Democratic Secretaries of State are treating this as a five-alarm fire. We need to be ready to fight back in court, support states that resist this overreach, and defend vote-by-mail access at all costs.
