Register to vote now to ensure your ballot is counted on Election Day
Earlier this month, we wrote to recommend that you
register to vote or update your registration soon to be fully prepared for Election Day, November 3rd. This year, Virginians will have the opportunity to elect candidates for President, U.S. Senator and U.S. Representative – and in some localities – for “down-ballot” offices. In
Faithful Citizenship, the U.S. Catholic Bishops have reminded us to exercise our voice and our vote in public life.
Because in-person voting on Election Day may be more challenging this year due to
COVID-19, you may wish to consider either voting by Absentee Ballot or, alternatively, by voting Early in-person. Both of these options would reduce potential concerns posed by large turnout at polling places on Election Day. Please see below for important deadlines and to request an absentee ballot.
To VOTE on Tuesday, November 3, 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (General Election)
Can’t make it on Election Day?
- Request Absentee Ballot by mail by: 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2020.
- Request Absentee Ballot by appearing in person by: 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020
- Vote Early in-person from September 18 to October 31.
We will provide voter education resources in the coming months. In the meantime, please share this information about voter registration and Absentee/Early Voting with your family members and friends now, so they will be prepared to participate in these important decisions when the time comes.
