The sun is shining, the weather’s warmer, and the (virtual) beach is calling your name! On July 23, join us for our very first, free-to-attend Virtual Beach Party! Get a few of your best beach buds together and we’ll bring the surf and sand to you live online. Help us raise oh-so-critical funds to save vulnerable animals. (And yes, animals do need you. The pandemic has not only limited our fundraising, it’s put so many more animals at risk.)

** Underdogs can be Wonderdogs

Sometimes, we rescue pups who have a hard time finding homes. Some people might call them underdogs but we know that with the right home and some TLC, they’ll become the most incredible wonderdogs. Dogs like Jay, the best marathon runner we know and who’s called PAWS home for 414 days, deserve to find their forevers.

Summer in Chicago has officially arrived and you know what that means –sunshine-y days and firework-filled nights. Even after the 4th of July, Navy Pier and other Chicago neighborhoods often light up the evening sky with bright designs and large booms.
Fireworks, while fun for many of us humans, can scare dogs and cats. Between the unpredictability, the loud sound, and the flashes of light, they’re enough to make your pet feel more anxious than awestruck. Learn the important tips to help your furry friend cope with the sounds of summer!

Chicago BBQ fans and animal lovers enjoyed a new way to save animals in early July—chowing down on delicious Smokehttps://www.thesmokedaddy.com/Daddy BBQ! For each order at one of Chicago’s premier ribs joints, Merrick made a $10 donation to PAWS Chicago—for a total of $10,000! Diners also received a special “doggy bag” for their pups at home with Merrick’s new slow-cooked BBQ recipes for dogs.
This partnership was part of Merrick’s nationwide efforts to support animal shelters in need by giving its new Slow-Cooked BBQ recipes to shelter dogs and donating more than $50,000 to shelters across the country. We’d be able to clap louder but our fingers are still covered in sauce!

** Yukon’s Last Territory

In his 1,290 days at PAWS Chicago, Yukon had endless adventures. From spending almost an entire year with our feline behaviorist, Erin, as her office cat to exploring our Lincoln Park Adoption Center Rooftop in his harness, Yukon learned exactly what it meant to live a housecat life to the fullest. Now, after three and a half years, Yukon has the chance to explore his final, most fulfilling frontier: adoption.
