"Democratic ambitions to power their grid with renewable energy have hit the rocks amid rising costs after the GOP tax bill phased out tax credits for solar and wind projects that can offset 50% of their cost. The tax bill also ended subsidies for electric vehicles and rooftop solar. All of this has some Democrats rethinking the political risks of continuing with their 2021 emissions fantasy, er, law."

Net zero continues its slow death.

Politico (11/13/25) reports: "Lawmakers in the European Parliament on Thursday agreed to exempt more companies from green reporting rules after the center-right, right-wing and far-right groups allied to pass the EU’s first omnibus simplification package. The outcome illustrates the willingness of the center-right European People’s Party to abandon its traditional centrist allies and press ahead with the support of far-right groups to pass its deregulation agenda, setting a precedent for future lawmaking in Parliament for the rest of the mandate. The far-right Patriots and Europe of Sovereign Nations groups voted in favor of the EPP's changes, which were also backed by the right-wing European Conservatives and Reformists...Ahead of the vote, EPP chair Manfred Weber told POLITICO: 'We promised to the voters to cut unnecessary red tape, and we will do so. The vote is about nothing else than that.'"

Run it to the ground.

Politico (11/13/25) reports: "Environmental group 350 .org, which spearheaded the movement to block the Keystone XL oil pipeline, will 'temporarily suspend programming' in the U.S. and other countries amid funding woes, according to a letter obtained by POLITICO. The move comes as environmental groups have struggled to find their footing and raise money under President Donald Trump, whose threats to investigate left-leaning organizations and rapid-fire dismantling of environmental rules have hamstrung green groups. The letter to outside organizations from Executive Director Anne Jellema said 350 .org had suffered a 25 percent drop in income for its 2025 and 2026 fiscal years, compelling it to halt operations...350 .org was formed in 2007 and helped recharge the environmental movement after Congress failed to enact a sweeping cap-and-trade law in the early 2010s. The group, whose name refers to the 350 parts per million concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that was seen as a safer upper limit to keep the planet from overheating, turned the fight over the development of the Keystone XL pipeline into a symbol for climate change...The upstart group that had been led by activist and writer Bill McKibben and Middlebury College students helped popularize the slogan 'Keep It in the Ground,' referring to the call to end the extraction of oil, coal and gas that cause climate change."

Are there any all white beach clubs in Brazil?

E&E News (11/14/25) reports: "Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, the top Democrat on the Environment and Public Works Committee, will be at the COP30 climate summit in Brazil starting Friday. The federal government shutdown and this week’s congressional sessions to end it forced many lawmakers to cancel their trips to the U.N. climate talks in the Brazilian city of Belém. Whitehouse, one of Congress’ fiercest climate action hawks, was initially unsure whether he would make it. His office confirmed the trip Thursday evening. A release said Whitehouse would highlight the Trump administration’s work against climate action and would call for a carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) to account for the climate impacts of trade."
