Pilots, air traffic controllers, and TSA have tough jobs at the best of times…and these are definitely not the best of times.

These are the people that keep us safe every day. We ought to return the favor.

That was the logic behind my bill, the Mental Health in Aviation Act , which passed the House earlier this year.

I wrote it to address longstanding rules that punish pilots and air traffic controllers if they seek mental health support, including routine things like marriage or grief counseling. At minimum, they’re grounded for six months. In some cases, they’re grounded permanently.

Forcing hardworking people to choose between their health and their livelihoods has caused hundreds of avoidable tragedies, putting not only air personnel at risk, but the public, too.

Passing the Mental Health in Aviation Act through the House wasn’t an easy process, and getting it through the Senate will be equally challenging. With holiday travel ramping up, Americans are seeing how hard our dedicated air personnel work to keep us safe. I’m using this opportunity to get them behind my bill so we can fix this broken system once and for all.

That work isn't possible without you. So, if you'd like to help me tackle more problems like this one, c hip in to my campaign so I can secure another term as the Common-Sense Crusader of Capitol Hill. [[link removed]]
