this is not an easy message to write.

As you know, I get a lot of hate from the far-right and conspiracy theorists of all kinds. I deal with constant harassment and threats of violence, both online and in real life.

And when folks like Donald Trump and Nancy Mace constantly attack me with baseless smears, the number of threats goes through the roof.

That’s why I do everything I can to ensure my safety and the safety of my campaign by hiring a security team.

But the thing is, security is expensive. Way more expensive than you may think. A lot of people assume that as a member of Congress, it is provided to me for free — it’s not.

So, I am coming to you today to humbly ask for your help in providing for the safety and peace of mind of my campaign.

If you can afford it, it would mean the world if you could chip in today and ensure that we have the budget to continue to afford our security detail.

We can’t take a laid-back approach when my safety and the safety of the people around me are on the line. We have to take every threat seriously.

Please, chip in $10 or whatever you can today to help us pay for security. I wish I didn’t have to ask. I wish we weren’t in this situation. But the far-right has made it so, and we have to protect ourselves.
