John,
Donald Trump’s attacks on public education are an attack on every community in America, and they began the day he took office.
One of his first moves as president was to start dismantling the Department of Education, laying off roughly half its workforce. The first people fired were those protecting students from discrimination and sexual violence and those processing financial aid for millions of students.
Then, Trump’s administration used the government shutdown to target students with disabilities and firing nearly everyone overseeing Special Education and Rehabilitation Services.
We won’t stand for this.
The Department of Education serves more than 50 million K–12 students and 12 million college students every year. We can’t allow Trump to use our students, teachers, and public schools as pawns in his political chess game.
Attorneys General from 20 states and the District of Columbia have already sued to stop Trump from dismantling the Department of Education, but it’ll take even more pressure to make him back down.
Will you sign on now to urge every state Attorney General to join the fight and STOP Trump’s destruction of the Department of Education?
Thanks for standing up for our communities and our future.
