The promise of our democracy is rooted in a core principle – that every
voice counts, and every person deserves to be heard.

That principle only works when we live it out: by showing up, listening,
and engaging directly with one another. That’s why town halls, like the
one I am hosting in Wisconsin on Tuesday, matter.

I’ll be in Rep. Derrick Van Orden’s district – a place where too many
people feel unheard. Where the Congressman refuses to hold a town hall
with his own constituents, we’ll be doing what leadership requires:
engaging with the people most impacted by Washington’s decisions. 

This next town hall isn’t just about giving people in Rep. Van Orden’s
district a voice – though that matters deeply. It’s also about making a
statement: that we, the people, still decide how to chart our own future.

Right now, we’re seeing how the decisions made in Washington by people
like Rep. Van Orden are hurting everyday people – undercutting Wisconsin’s
farmers, driving up the cost of health care, threatening rural hospitals,
and making groceries more expensive. In moments like this, the most
powerful thing we can do is come together: to speak, to listen, and to
demonstrate how democracy is something we build every day.

When people in Washington stop responding, it’s up to the rest of us to
show what real representation looks like.

I’m hitting the road to make sure that the promise of democracy isn’t just
an empty idea we invoke, but a responsibility we live out – and I would
