Is Texas flippable in 2026? Well, it’s complicated.
Democrats have worked hard to flip Texas blue, but so far it’s eluded us. However, there are some optimistic signs that suggest 2026 could be our chance to tip the balance.
- Republicans are splitting into factions. Incumbent Sen. John Cornyn is facing an ultra-MAGA primary challenge from Texas AG Ken Paxton.
- Early polls indicate that GOP voters prefer scandal-plagued Paxton, who experts think could struggle in a general election. (Paxton was IMPEACHED by the GOP-controlled Texas State House after being indicted for fraud).
- Democrats are winning over voters in red, blue, and purple states alike. Midterms are historically good for the opposition party (us), especially under a deeply unpopular president.
- There were positive signs for Democrats in Texas in 2024’s Senate race. Democratic candidate Colin Allred overperformed Kamala Harris’ margin by 5.5 points, and carried 7 counties won by Trump in the presidential race.
We’re targeting Texas not because it’s a sure thing, but because we can’t win if we don’t play the game.
So, while the Senate primaries play out, we need to get a head start on victory in Texas and battlegrounds across the nation. Please, split a $10 contribution between Blue Senate and the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee today so we can start investing on the ground and give our eventual nominee the resources they need to WIN.
