Strike Out Stigma
Let's change how we talk about diabetes
Hi John,
Stigma causes harm. And that's not ok. 8 in 10 people living with diabetes say they’ve faced negative attitudes because of their diabetes. That includes comments from family and friends, work colleagues, on social media and even in healthcare settings or from other people living with diabetes.
Words matter. And hearing negative and hurtful comments every day can have a lasting impact. Some people start to believe what they hear – accepting that they're to blame for struggling to manage their diabetes, or for having the condition in the first place.
Nobody should experience judgement or blame because of a health condition. That’s why we're campaigning to ‘Strike Out Stigma’ so that everyone gets the support they need to live well with diabetes.
We need your help. Sign up to join our movement and help us to fight for a world where everyone with diabetes lives free from blame or judgement and can access the care and support they need. Let’s change how we talk about diabetes.
