Dear John,

A new national poll confirms what we know to be true: a majority of people support accountability for climate polluters.

This poll, from Fossil Free Media and Data for Progress, found that over three-quarters of likely voters support requiring oil and gas companies to pay their fair share for climate damages. You can see the full results here [[link removed]] .

Last year, we introduced legislation in Augusta – LD 1870: A Maine Climate Superfund – that would do just that: hold the world’s biggest emitters accountable for their climate damage to Maine. And, right now, we’re working to rally support across the state for this commonsense legislation that a majority of people agree is necessary.

Will you join us and the movement here in Maine by signing our petition to show your support for this bill? [[link removed]]

If you’d like to take a step further, you can join other volunteers to help pass a municipal resolution in your town or city in support of the Climate Superfund. These resolutions show lawmakers that Maine communities support this bill. Click here to learn more and get involved. [[link removed]]

This new polling tells us that misinformation cannot overcome people’s lived experiences. More and more people are experiencing the intensifying impacts of climate change and think the companies and corporations who caused the problem should be held responsible.

We agree.

Thank you for being part of this movement,
