Team,

Republicans love to pretend their efforts to manipulate maps aren’t a direct attack on democracy.

But even former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels — a Republican — is speaking out against the state’s attempts to do Trump’s bidding by passing a mid-decade map redraw.

All lawmakers would do well to listen to his warning that attempts to gerrymander “come at the expense of public disgust; Hoosiers, like most Americans, place a high value on fairness and react badly to its naked violation.”

This is an important reminder that Trump’s gerrymandering scheme — which allows politicians to pick their voters instead of voters picking their politicians — isn’t normal. And it isn’t how a democracy works.

The NDRC is the leading organization dedicated to protecting and defending fair maps nationwide. We’re fighting for fair representation by electing Democracy Defenders, combating ongoing gerrymandering, and making certain that Republican attempts to subvert the will of the people backfire on politicians who seek only to conserve their own power.

But we rely on grassroots donations from supporters like you to fuel this work now and into the future. As the fight for democracy ramps up in Indiana, Kansas, and across the country, we can’t afford to have anyone sit on the sidelines.

Will you step up with a donation today to help us do everything we can to push back against these anti-democracy attacks? [[link removed]]
